This is an original InlineTech guide, not a news report. Your requirements may differ; use it as a starting point for a discussion.

Protect the accounts that matter

Enable multifactor authentication for email, administrator accounts, remote access, and important business applications. Use individual accounts rather than shared logins, and review access when someone changes roles or leaves. A password manager can help your team use unique passwords without relying on memory.

Keep devices and software current

Maintain an inventory of the computers, servers, and applications your business relies on. Agree on a patching schedule and a process for exceptions. Unsupported software deserves special attention because new security fixes may no longer be available.

Test your ability to recover

A backup is useful only if you can restore what you need. Decide which data is critical, how much recent work you can afford to lose, and how quickly you need to recover. Test restoration on a regular schedule and document the result. Keep an appropriate separation between production access and backup administration.

Make reporting easy

Tell staff how to report a suspicious email, unexpected login prompt, or missing device. A simple reporting route and a calm response help people speak up early. Document who makes decisions during an incident and keep essential contact information available if your normal systems are unavailable.
